I'd go further, Felix. Several downloads I do, I don't get the
option of where the downloaded file is saved (I think my Win7 just
uses the last place I saved something to!), nor do I get a listing
in the Download Manager screen.
It just happens! And I have to go looking for the downloaded file!!
Check here:
Edit | Preferences | Browser | Downloads
...
When saving a file
(o) Save files to [Downloads] [Choose folder...]
(•) Always ask me where to save files
Thanks, Paul, but "Always ask me" is already selected, has been for
yonks!! Sometimes I get to select, sometimes I don't!!
OK, then the next place to look is here:
Edit | Preferences | Browser | Helper Applications
For the file types that have the setting, "Save file," are those the
ones that trouble you?
Thanks for perceiving, Paul, but at that location, the Adobe Contents
are set to 'Use Adobe Acrobat', the two Podcast settings and Web Feed
are set to 'Preview in SeaMonkey' and the other ten settings are set to
'Always ask'.
Part of the problem might be that, as I dual Boot Win7/Linux, some of
the Content types are Linux type entries, e.g. 'application/x-gzip', so
that may be confusing Win7!!
