I just created my Comcast POP3 account in SeaMonkey 2.49.4 on Linux
and had no problem receiving or sending mail.
The correct settings for POP copied from my Thunderbird are:
Incoming
Server name: mail.comcast.net
User Name: your email address
Port; 995
Connection security: SSL/TLS
Authentication method: Normal Password
I've just had a look at the Xfinity site and the settings people have
been providing are correct for IMAP but you're talking about POP. From
what I've read the correct settings for a POP account are:
POP Server: pop3.comcast.net
Port: 995 (That is POP with SSL - They don't say TLS or STARTTLS so try
SSL first)
Username: The implication is that it should be you full email address
but, if that doesn't work, try just the part of your email address before
the @ symbol.
The settings provided by the ISPDB from Mozilla when Thunderbird
automatically creates the Comcast account using the setup wizard
provides the POP3 server as "mail.comcast.net".
I used those settings to manually create my account in SeaMonkey and
that server name works for receiving messages.
Don't believe everything you read on ISP websites.
ISPDB is the Mozilla ISP Database.
In Thunderbird you enter your Name, Email address and password click
"Next" and all the correct data is found from the database and entered
for you. Click "Done" and both Incoming and Outgoing (SMTP) servers are
added for you.
