I subscribe to two newsgroups which I would expect identical behavior.

GROUP#1
Server info
news.mozilla.org          Port: 119
News rc file:
home/richard/.mozilla/seamonkey/9bzizhmz.slt/News/news.mozilla.org-1.rc
Local directory:
/home/richard/.mozilla/seamonkey/9bzizhmz.slt/News/news.mozilla.org

GROUP#2
Server info
news.supernews.com        Port:119
News rc file:
/home/richard/.mozilla/seamonkey/9bzizhmz.slt/News/newsrc-news.supernews.com
Local directory:
/home/richard/.mozilla/seamonkey/9bzizhmz.slt/News/news.supernews.com

*ALL* other entries for each group are the same.
GROUP#1
retrieves messages *ONLY* on explicit request via Menu->Get Msgs
GROUP#2
retrieves messages on explicit request via Menu->Get Msgs
occasionally retrieves messages at times *I* cannot predict

WHY?
TIA!

Richard, check "Server Settings" for the two Accounts under Edit->Mail & Newsgroups Account settings.

Are they the same??

Yes they are identical. That's what prompted my question ;<

Oh well, that's about the extent of my knowledge. ;-( Sorry.
