What specific code are you talking about?
What specific error are you seeing?
If the extensions appear to install but don't do anything, you might be
able to see what isn't working by taking a 2.49.5 default profile with
whichever extension installed, saving the error console output,
upgrading to 2.53, saving the new error console output, and comparing them.
It might not be practical to reinstate support for whichever API is
failing, but it might be possible to modify the extensions to bypass the
missing API.
