Wow, yesterday I saw v2.53.3 process go over 4 GB (about 83% used on my decade old, updated 64-bit W7 HPE SP1 PC's 6 GB of RAM)! :O

https://wiki.mozilla.org/SeaMonkey/StatusMeetings/2020-07-26 says "Some users report heavy memory usage compared to 2.49.5 but no specific problem or common cause has been found yet." I see this happen often from YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Reddit (new design is the worst compared to its old.reddit.com), etc. from my usages. I can reproduce it easily.

4GB is not excessive when you look at the sh*t websites call source code and which needs to be decoded. For other cases huge javascript files rom 10 sites or more trackers etc... It can happen. With one or two videos it also goes up to 1 to 2 GB fast. This is not 1990 any longer and 2.53.3 supports a lot more features compared to 2.49.x.

There are reports of 20 GB or more on startup and crashes when using streetmap and specific websites. I can not reproduce this neither on Linux nor Windows. Memory goes up but also goes down moderately. In some cases I suspect problemes with Linux distribution builds. IanN thinks it might be imap mail.

Does not mean that SeaMonkey is error free or that there is no porblem. We are constantly fixing bugs and backport things now.

In any case I recommend NoScript 5.19 and latest uBlock classic (legacy).
