Well, my goal is to help make stable more stable. If these changes don't make their way into stable, it kinda defeats the purpose of the "stable" branch, don't you think?

Nevertheless I'll try out unstable once again and will run both (on different ports).

If you REALLY want to help and have the time to constantly change to a newer build and report errors in them, you should try the unstable builds (from freenetproject.org/snapshots).
