Though after playin' around with i2P, I dunno that Freenet will have much of a future anyway. It's a nice idea, but it just doesn't seem to work too well. I've tried it numerous times, and I've never had much luck navigating anywhere inside Freenet. I'm gonna setup a dedicated Freenet node in the next few days, so I'll let that run for a while on it's own for a few weeks and see how it develops, but as of right now, it doesn't impress me too much. I'll probably have that box dual-purpose as Freenet/i2P node.

Freenet doesn't spider stuff. Your freenet node will cache sites visited by you, and also cache requests made by neighbouring nodes (i.e. stuff requested by *other people*). If none of your neighbouring nodes are forwarding requests to your node, and you don't visit any sites, then Freenet will be idle. It doesn't automatically spider, but maybe it should, it would be pretty cool
