The reason for guessing here is that many badly configured servers sends octet-stream instead of actual type, and expects the pages to work OK (you all know how they originally tested the pages). Similarly, many servers sends the above text/plain variants.


Dispostion: nothing is really wrong with using the dispositon header, but there was a bit back and forth with it in the 7.2x and 7.5x series due to problems. IIRC it is active in 8.0.
