Node Announcing
Freenet is connecting to the network - this may take a few minutes. Performance
will continue to improve during the next few hours. This will happen each time
you shut down Freenet for more than a few minutes, so try to leave it running
24 hours a day if possible. We have recently sent 0 announcements, 0 of which
are still running, and added 0 nodes (0 nodes have rejected us). We are
currently connected to 10 seednodes and trying to connect to another 9.
Does that sound familiar! Only replace that 'connected to 10' with
'connected to 0' and then keep on staring at that for days. You do
refresh the nodes page manually and you do look at the 'strangers' page,
I hope. Do hope too your router supports UPnP, if not, then you need to
configure the router to open the Freenet ports.
You can test if you have done so successfully at portforward.com. If
your ports are not open, check your software firewall if you need to
configure that, too. Also, realtime malware scanners can interfere.
What sometimes, only sometimes works for me:
shut down FN, go to the folder you installed Freenet in. Delete
everything with numbers in it including nodedb4o and the temp folder.
Then start FN again.
Repeat as many times as necessary. If the node has not found strangers
that connect within an hour, it never will.
I do this routinely as FN never works for me without this drastic deleting.
