If I understand correctly, you're asking if there is any place those 
deleted contact records are stored, from which you can recover them. 
Answer to that is, unfortunately, no. You can re-create the contact 
records by going through the output process by which you originally 
created them, and at the step in the wizard when you get a choice to 
print the letter (or send the email, or whatever) just choose NO. 
Then continue to create the contact records.

I don't think you'll have to do this, but if your backup is indeed 
recent enough to be correct except for the deleted records, you could 
just copy the backup contacts file into your active ebase folder, 
replacing the current one.

It sounds as if you went wrong searching for the pertinent records. 
Probably searched for a set of record numbers, forgetting that there 
would be many records for a given individual. You will need to search 
for the particular set of contacts that you want to delete - probably 
the date or source code.
