I don't think Mac OS 9 is the problem, though keeping your system as
up-to-date as possible, using the Software Update control panel, is not a
bad idea. 

Please check to be sure that your copy of FileMaker Pro 4.1 is updated with
the latest patch -- v3. You can do that while in FileMaker by selecting
About FileMaker under the Apple Menu. If you do not have the latest patch,
you can download it from
http://www.filemaker.com/support/updaters.html#FileMaker4.1.

Also check that your copy of FileMaker Server 3.0 is updated to v4. If it is
not, the patch is at
http://www.filemaker.com/support/updaters.html#FileMakerServer3.0.

Finally, be sure that you do not run FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Server on
the same machine at the same time. Just one or the other.
