I have written to the list before with this problem and have gotten a couple responses. However, the problem has changed somewhat.

When I started working here, over a year ago, we had just gotten a copy of ebase 1.0 for our Mac. That copy of Ebase already had a lot of changes on it. Some of the "unmodifiable" layouts were also changed. I am assuming this is what one person was referring to when he said our ebase had been 'hacked into'.

Our database of over 6000 records is now on that ebase 1.0 on the (painfully slow) mac. I want to transfer our database to our much newer PC. I have (finally) purchased FileMaker 5.0 and have installed it on the PC. I have downloaded Ebase 1.03 and installed it on the PC. I tried importing the first 100 records from the old ebase in tab separated text. I didn't think it would work and it didn't, but I wanted to try. I don't know all the changes that were made to the old ebase. I have been told and maybe the only thing to do would be to transfer all the records manually. But, before I do that, I wanted to post to the list again and see if anyone has a better idea.

Well, what do you think? Should I just go ahead and start transfering all the data manually? Or is there a better way?

Thank You!
