If you all know this already, I apologize for taking the space.
As you may have discovered, I've been having some problem because too
many hands have been involved in creating source coded messages. And,
I've been trying to discover what messages exist and how to find
them. On the source code lookup screen, there are three boxes one can
use. In one of them, you can type in the individual source code for a
message you want to send. You can also lookup by source code. The
drop down list is sorted by source code. The third choice is lookup
by description. The drop down list is sorted in alpha order by
description your gave to the message.
I've just discovered that, if you've given more than one message the
same description, only the most recent is shown in this list.
I've been worried over the course of time about the proliferation of
choices on the source code list. My assumption has been that every
time you create a new source code, changing only the date segment,
each one appears in the list and makes it more and more difficult to
generate output in the future. Not so! That's a load off my mind.
What this means for me, to illustrate, that if I create a first
message in a membership renewal series, if I want to change it
slightly, all that must be changed in the source code is the date,
keeping the same description. The contact record reflects the source
code that went out and that specific message can be viewed. The
description box lists only the most recent variation of that message.
The history is preserved and the description segment of the source
code list is not unduly cluttered.
