No. This sounds like a "Record Type" issue. If the record type is
anything other than Ind (see Data Entry screen), you will see either the
Bus/Org field data in that space OR nothing (if there's nothing in that
field). Check the record type and change if necessary. This is done
for addressing purposes, so if the record is truly a business or
organization, you may want to consider leaving the record type alone.
Play with printing letters, envelopes and labels with a few Ind and Bus
or Org record types to see how it all works. Also, since the "Field"
you're looking at is on the Home Screen, you can't modify it - and don't
need to since it ain't the problem.
BTW, READ YOUR EBASE MANUAL. Your question is answered on p. 2-3 and
6-6 of the v.1.02 User Manual.

Some fields are calculations or summaries of other data and hence can't
be imported into. I'm sure that was the case here.

Hard to say based on what you've told us. This may be a difficult issue
to track down long-distance. There may have been a problem with your
field mapping. I assume you did the import using the built-in ebase
routines and did separate imports for names and payments???
Another possibility: Are you sure there were non-zero dollar amounts on
the Home Screen? The fields that contain the payments summaries on the
Home screen are re-calculated when you tab between screens with a little
glitch in the routine. In v.1.02 (and probably 1.03), when this is
done, if there's no $ in the payments file, ebase skips the calculation
and returns a blank field (this glitch - uh, "feature" (sorry Jack) -
can be changed to return a $0 by changing the field definitions for
certain fields in the Names file, but that's more than I should get into
in this message). In any case, it's worth looking at.
There are other potential problems depending on exactly what you did to
import data. Try to give us more info.
