I did read the administrative manual, page by page, when I initially set our
database up. I've also read the Filemaker manual, and attempted to
understand it as best I could without having worked with anything like it
before. When I've had specific troubles, sometimes I have gone back to the
manual and found the answer. Other times I couldn't find, or understand,
the answer.

One area that I've never been able to fully understand out of the manual,
although I've looked, is how to create scripts.
(But I'm not asking that right now. I don't need certain reports until May
and if I end up needing help I'll ask then.)

All I'm saying is that in reading the manual, just as in reading anything,
you don't always initially understand or grasp everything that is presented.
In addition, sometimes we humans don't realize the importance of a nuance
we're reading until the actual problem presents itself. At any rate, I
pray patience on us all.

I like Walt Daniel's suggestion of online documentation. I know it would
help our organization.

There is an expression in the IT industry, "RTFM". One interpretation of
this is: Read that fine Manual. Other variations exist, depending on the
level of annoyance of the person being asked for help about a basic issue.

It *is* a fine manual, folks. Do read it.
