In addition to Dave's comments, you'd quickly grow your Contacts file to
an unweildy size if you tracked every thank you sent (at least, that's
what would happen to MY database). Also, the Thank date field is
automatically filled if you use the ebase thank you routine, which means
that you could search for un-thanked gifts by looking for a blank Thank
Date field. Any that are empty have not been sent a thank you (that is,
unless that person received a thank you note produced another way and
you didn't note that in the Thank Date field).
