Hi All,

I'm using ebase 1.0 and FileMaker Pro 4.1 on Windows 98.

A database developer volunteer has agreed to modify our version of
ebase. He's going to add some additional tables and create some reports.
Some of the additional tables will be related to some existing tables.
Only additional tables will be created without changing any of the
existing tables, fields or relationships. How do I export a copy of
ebase with no data? I tried to create ebase clones from the ADMIN 2
screen, but it didn't seem to work. When I tried to create the clone, it
seemed to create tables with all the existing data, and it didn't create
some of the tables (for example, it gave me an error message saying it
couldn't create the NAMES table because the disk (my C: drive) was full
or write protected). I tried it again making sure the clones sub
directory was empty and it created some of the tables, but not all, and
the tables appeared to have data. Also the "Save a Copy As" selection
under the FILE menu is grayed out.

I want to:

* give the volunteer a clone of our ebase database (ALL the structure,
NO data) so he can work off site at his own place

* have him modify the structure per our requirements (the volunteer
knows not to change any of the existing fields or any of the existing
tables or any of the existing relationships)

* test the new structure using a copy of the database to make sure the
data is not harmed and everything works OK

* overwrite the existing ebase structure with the new one without
harming the data

Can this be done? Or does he need to work on-site with the original
database?

Has anyone had a clone of their ebase modified and used that to
overwrite the old structure? Anything I should watch out for? Are there
other (better) methods for adding additional tables? Any insights would
be most welcome.

Thanks!
