Hi All,
We're using ebase 1.00 with Win98 and Filemaker 4.1. We want to create
some additional relational tables integrated with ebase.
My database consultant (who is very knowledgeable about databases but
new to Filemaker) can't seem to figure out how to import tables into
ebase or Filemaker.
---> See his email below. <---
Does Filemaker allow for Filemaker tables to be imported? Is there some
trick to this? Must the tables be exported in some format before they
can be imported into another Filemaker application on a different PC?
Thanks!
Tom

According to everything I've read from the 'net,
it is *not* possible to enter or import
new, different tables into ebase,
either manually or from Filemaker.
It is simply the way ebase is designed
(I'm sure they did it that way on purpose to avoid
copyright violations and misuse of their
and Filemaker's software).
The only thing a user can do is to
import CSV (or similar) tables
using ebase's existing table layouts,
which, obviously, is of little use to you.
Again, I can probably do what you want through Filemaker,
but, obviously, you won't have the relationships
between your existing data and my new data.
I am still mystified as to why my Filemaker 4.1 files
can't be read in YOUR Filemaker.
Did you OPEN them or IMPORT them?
(you need to OPEN them;
start with the "subprograms.FP3"
file and see what happens;
if that works, proceed with each table
in the order of your design layout, reading top-down).
