Now that would REALLY confuse the system. There are many, many 
references to files, by name, buried in scripts, calculations, and 
relationships. These references rely on the name being exactly as it 
expects. You would completely disable ebase by changing all the names.

Generally a bad idea, as you noted. Since you are networked, is it 
possible to run the second system on another machine on the net? Not 
perfect, since FileMaker can still find the files, but better than 
the same machine.
