The "next number" used for Record ID is set in the field definition 
of Record Number.

That said, I need to add that you really don't want to mess with 
that. If you are deleting one or a few records, those number don't 
get re-used. When you add another record, ebase just adds a new 
number to the top of the stack, leaving gaps in the sequence. If you 
try to close the gaps, there is just too much chance you'll end up 
with duplicate record numbers.

The only case where you might want to re-set the auto-enter index is 
if you are generating a new, empty set of files (clones) for another 
set of data.
