For people new to ebase & database management, this highlights why regular backups are necessary. And, archives should be kept of backups from different dates. I've been making zip-file backups of the database and giving them names that include the dates. After discovering a field mispopulated with the wrong values, I was really glad to be able to find a relatively recent archive that still had the correct values ... if I had been keeping a single 'most recent' backup only, it would have been a serious problem. For PCs, a recommended approach would be WinZip and a CD writer (I write a CD of backup archives every six weeks or so and store it off-site). Stuffit and a CD writer would do the same on the Mac side. A zip drive would be okay for creating archives for off-site storage, but a CD holds more data and the media are cheaper. -- Eric Johnson Colorado Environmental Coalition -----Original Message----- From: Larry Klaasen [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Sunday, July 08, 2001 7:54 PM To: TechRocks Support Subject: [support] Re: Can't delete records And I believe when you say backup, you mean the entire set of ebase files, not just the corrupted file. Since the data is cross referenced in many files, you would lose those connections if you install only one file.
