Title: Re: [support] International Telephone Numbers - I need
I have send about 4 e-mails about this but have failed to get some key responses to my questions from anyone. Maybe some one of you in the know could help.

From what I can see so far, version 1.3 does not really support international phone numbers in a way that includes the country codes and city codes for other than US numbers.

That's correct.

So far Dave Shaw and I have come up with two different solutions:

Mine is two forgo the format and put the extra digits in the AREA CODE field that accepts more than just 3 digits. I then make the displays on the HOME layout larger to see the full numbers. It is likely there are other layouts affected but they could be adjusted as need be.

Dave Shaw suggested changing the mask of the phone field to allow 8 digits and go at it from that angle. This is also workable but still requires changes to layouts for the display aspect.

MY REAL QUESTIONS
=================
1) Will international phone numbers including the Country and City codes be addressed in Version 2? If so how?

Here's what Bob Schmidt posted a few days ago

There is no auto-formatting of phone numbers in v2. They are simply text fields with no validation.

This means you can put whatever numbers you like in the phone number field.

2) What is the best way to go now to create the least hassle and certainly loss of data, if I want to upgrade to version 2.

Either of the paths you describe above would result in all parts of the phone number being in either the area code or the phone number. Since there will be no validation in version 2, anything that will work in v1 will work in v2.
