Michelle,

I administer FileMaker at a small factory and also for a nonprofit using
ebase from the Server software on WinNT servers. FMP Server has made my life
much easier. Not only does it include a scheme for backup which may be
automated (we currently use v4, v5 is improved), but it prevents a
workstation crash from taking down the entire system and damaging the files.
This by itself is enough reason to go with it if you have more than 2 or 3
users.

You can also administer from your desktop, open and close files, remove
users, send messages, see who is using a particular file, etc. I realize the
initial cost is daunting, but it really pays off in the long run.
