Only one person should be opening ebase.102 directly. All the others should press the HOST button on the open dialog box and get is from the user how opened it first. You should not have someone actively using the machine that opened it first and is serving it. It would help if you said whether you are a PC or Mac shop. > -----Original Message----- > From: Becca Deehr [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Tuesday, August 14, 2001 7:24 PM > To: TechRocks Support > Subject: [support] Re: multi-user/runtime vs filemaker problem ??? > > > > I've partially solved my problem (ebase can be opened by all computers) by > completely deleting the exe file (not just storing it on another > computer on > the network) and reopening using filemaker pro. however, on some > computers, > ebase still does not open by clicking on ebase.102 (it asks for > the location > of ebase.exe). and on some computers, it opens using ebase .102 without > deleting anything. > on the computers that won't open ebase.102, i've continually opened ebase > with filemaker and then tried to open by clicking on ebase.102 > and it still > doesn't work. i can still open ebase using filemaker, but for other people > on the network it is much easier to have ebase as an icon on the > desktop and > open it from there. > one clue as to why ebase is not being mapped after opening it with > filemaker: the icons on those computers for ebase files look > different than > they did before. other than that, i don't know why it still asks for the > location of ebase.exe. any thoughts? thank you, > > > Rebecca Deehr > Membership Database Manager > Telephone Outreach Project Supervisor > _____________________________ > Washington Wilderness Coalition > 4649 Sunnyside Avenue, Suite 520 > Seattle, WA 98103 > -----Original Message----- > From: Carl Paulsen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: TechRocks Support <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Date: Thursday, August 09, 2001 2:59 PM > Subject: [support] Re: multi-user/runtime vs filemaker problem ??? > > > >Becca, > > > >Using the ebase.exe file to open ebase will open the runtime version of > >the database, which as I understand it can't be shared over a network. > >Opening the ebase.102 file will open ebase as runtime if that file is > >"mapped" to the ebase.exe file, or with Filemaker if it is "mapped" to > >Filemaker.
