Beth,
The Update Level button on the payment entry screen doesn't seem to
"de-populate" that field after changing the "payment for" field to
contribution, but I believe you can go into layout mode on the Payment
Entry screen and format the display for the member level field to "allow
entry into field." Then, back in browse mode, you can place your cursor
in the field, highlight the entire contents and delete what's there for
the problem records. I'd suggest re-setting the format to it's original
state when you've corrected these few records.
