Dave,
Thanks for your help - what I've done is duplicated the Level Calc from the
Names table, substituting the AMOUNT parameter with a custom
SUM:LifetimePledge. This seems to be basing my Donor Level on the total
Pledges both DUES and CONTRIBUTIONS - which is what we're looking for at
this point - can't believe it actually worked!
Thanks again...this listserv is fantastic.

Sorry, it's not really a straighforward question. Member level is
based on the amount of the _last_ dues payment, and the revision
below changes that to be based on the _last_ payment coded as
contribution, not the total.

First thing to think about is whether you want member level to be
determined by the year-to-date total of contributions or lifetime
total.

To do what you're looking for, you'd need to duplicate in the names
file the calculation of Level Calc from the payments file for a new
field, called Donor Level Calc or something like. This is a pretty
complicated calculation using the Case() function and the values for
minimum payment level and the name of the level set in the setup
file. Have a look at these field definitions, review the section on
calculated fields in the FileMaker user manual, and see if it's
something you want to take on.
