Julie Fish,

I recommend you try a program called Mailers+4. Ebase v1.03 does a
below-average job of finding duplicates. However, MP4 does an above-average
job. It finds people with misspelled last names for example.

If these duplicate exist in your ebase mailing, try using a different
duplicate check function by using custom find. You will have to create a
duplicate check field that is something like <<street address number>> +
<<street address name>> (without apartments, street directions such as
east/west, and without peoples' names).

We recently removed about 10,000 out of a list of 30,000 name entries when
switching to ebase. MP4 found most of the duplicates. ebase found few.

Since we do all mail in-house for 10,000 in newsletters to over 150,000 next
month in an acqusition, we use MP4 often. It's a very powerful tool for
creating bulk mail.

This sounds like a question for your mailing house not this list. They must
have an extremely loose definition of duplicate. Ebase's loose match is
about as loose as I would want to go without a lot of investigation of what
is wrong.
