All the files are related in complicated ways. You cannot just recover one
file and hope to have fully recovered from all the possible errors that
might have been introduced by the recovery process.

A FileMaker file is a binary file that stores all the data, layouts,
scripts, etc. in one disk file with some unknown to users block structure. A
typical failure is a lost block but it might have contained data, layouts,
scripts or some combination of them all. Obscure errors in a layout that is
not frequently used might not show up for months.

The beginnings of what professional help will do is export all data in all
files and import it into a clean empty ebase. There still may be errors in
what is done but it is highly likely to be quite localized and affect only a
few records.

There is no such thing as NO backup. You either imported the data from
somewhere or typed it in from paper. Persumably you don't throw out the
paper. We keep ours for years. We also backup daily and keep copies off
site. Your database is probably the most expensive and valuable thing in
your office. If it was a diamond ring, would you just leave it causually
lying on your desktop when you go home at night?
