>This may be a simple question, but I haven't been able to find it in the >manual. In trying to duplicate a record, we have come across a message >warning that the "Create duplicate record script" needs to be run. What >exactly does this script do and is it safe to run it? In other words, >should we just hit "yes"? Not only safe, but desirable. It sounds to me as if you are duplicating a record using the FileMaker menu item Records>Duplicate Record. This duplicates the record in the names file only. Ebase keeps information on each name record in related records in three other files, custom, profile, and summary. When you get this message, ebase is recognizing that these related records don't exist. Duplicating or creating new records using ebase scripts creates these related records as well as the new name record. Always create new records (including duplicates) using ebase tools, not FileMaker. - to add a record, click the yellow Add Name button or the script Add Name. - to duplicate a record, use the script Duplicate This Name. -- -- Dave Shaw H4 Consulting tel: 206-954-7526 fax: 206-625-1338 ------------------ Reminder to each recipient: To change your list account preferences, go to http://email.sparklist.com/scripts/lyris.pl?enter=support and enter the email address you used to subscribe to the ebase support list:: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] --------------------------------------------------------------------- ebase - Relationship Management for Nonprofits, http://www.ebase.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------
