Status is a calculated field. Grace is computed from the expire date which in turn is computed from the start date and duration. So the correct way to change grace to lapsed is to change the start date of the last dues payment. However this logically makes no sense unless there was an error in it to begin with. Please tell us more about why you want change from grace to lapsed.
