Couldn't you, in the payments entry screen, find all post dates 1/1/00...12/31/01 and also in the same find,choose CONTRIBUTION in the "Payment For" field? You could then duplicate the find and change CONTRIBUTION to DUES if you would want to inlcude those payments.
