Hi Julie, On a PC, right click the ebase.102 icon and select Filemaker Pro 5.x as the program to open with. Make sure the "always use this program" option is checked. This should open the database useing Filemaker Pro and not the runtime (.exe) file. Since you have Filemaker, you can get rid of the runtime file (called ebase.exe). Once you've got that working, you can right click the ebase.102 icon and "send a shortcut to the desktop" to have a quick and easy way to open the database. In Win 98 and earlier, you can also drag this icon to the gray task bar at the bottom of the screen to give you a one-click launch of ebase. On a Mac, it's a little different, but not much. Again, you want to open ebase.102 with Filemaker.
One more thing, if you haven't already done so, when you try to open ebase with FMP 5 you will be required to upgrade the files to FMP 5. Ebase version 1.02 is made for FMP 4 but the file structure is different in FMP5. Don't worry so long as you have a backup. Just make sure that the new FMP 5 files retain their original names. As for the "multi-user" status, you can change that under the setup wizard (screen 2). Carl Julie Fish wrote: > Computer idiot here.
