Possible options for exporting your AOL address book:

1. Try a program called AOLeave Tools. It requires Java and may only
work on a PC. You might have to do a 5 MB download of Java, configure
it, then get the tool then export your address book. I expect you can
get the address book in AOL by logging in on a PC even if a Mac was used
before, but this might take some work, too. I've never tried it - just
something that turned up on a Google search. Back up all data before
trying this.

2. Print-to-file: On Mac, you can get PrintToPDF, a shareware program,
to create a PDF of what would normally be your printed address book.
This is easier to install than AOLeave probably, but the result isn't as
good: you can copy and paste out of the PDF, but would have to do a lot
of manipulation to make it into a FileMaker-importable file (lots of
clever search-and-replaces). There are probably some print-to-plain-text
tools (there's a print-to-html tool), but I'm not familiar with them.
For Mac, try searching on http://versiontracker.com or for PC, try
http://tucows.com

3. Find an email program that knows how to import AOL address books, but
also knows how to export in tab-delimited or comma-delimited format, or
who's native storage format is something readable. There's a good chance
that one of these does: Outlook Express on Mac, Eudora, Claris eMailer
(Mac), or Netscape Communicator. On the Mac, one or more of these may
already be installed.

I'd try 3 first, then 1 or 2 depending on how you feel about installing
Java. Your mileage may vary (a lot).

Hope that helps,

Paul Collins
