Hi Jeff, To differentiate between those on the contact list and those who say no, you've already got the list identified (via some kind of segmentation in your database - if it's a conglomeration of fields contained in a detailed find, that can be saved in a "saved" find on the Custom Find Screen. Or you could re-create the query that gave you the prospect list and find a way to "mark" them or segment them out of the database (via Contact Flags or some other field). That seems like the best place to keep that info (unless you need to report responses based on that list). I tend to agree with Rachel that you should really delete contact records for those who you didn't contact.
Alternatively, you might consider entering an "action" for anyone contacted, whether donating or not, and then a payment for those who actually donated. The contacts file would then have the entire list of "prospects," the actions file would have the list of folks actually contacted, and the payments file would have those who gave. You could do some simple reporting based on %responses depending on which file you entered the record into. Yet another alternative: create a second source code for those who were actually contacted, and only enter payments for those who give using this second code. The original source code has the "prospect" list, the second the true contact list, and the payments would then reflect those who gave. If you are creative and establish some coding that you will only use for this contact, you could do response analyses on the basis of one or several of the code "buckets" which would give you either response rates based on those who you were able to contact OR on the entire prospect list. Hope this helps, Carl Rachel Walden wrote: > > Maybe you could delete the contact records for those that you were not > able to get ahold of. > > Jeff Cohn wrote: > > > Thanks Rachel.
