FileMaker has its own file-sharing protocol which bypasses the
operating system's filesharing.

Yes, you have actually identified the problem. All the files,
including and especially ebase.103 have to be set to multi-user to
make the system work over the network. You can't get into the sharing
properties in ebase.103, but there is a script built in to make that
change. Go to the admin screen 2 (you have to be logged in with the
master password to get there) and click the button labeled "set to
multi-user". You will get a couple of confirmation prompts, then
ebase will change the properties on all the files to multi-user.

Second, do not access the shared file using a shared folder. Open
FileMaker, select the menu item File>Open, and in the FileOpen
dialog, click the Hosts button. This calls FileMaker's file sharing
protocol and shows you the files open on the network. (If you use the
admin procedure to set the files to multi-user you will see only
ebase.103, because the others are set to "multi-user, hidden".

You should close your ebase directory to file sharing, to insure
users gain access correctly, using FileMaker's file sharing, not the
OS.
