Rainie-
It may. Where is your 'recognition listing' custom field
located? Are you able to switch back and forth from the name 1 field or
salutation line field to the recognition listing field on the data form or
wherever it is (does this even matter?), or must you address that in your
publication's layout by changing the merge fields? Also, can you print donor
lists and reports and have your recognition listing field surface on those as
opposed to the name on the membership record? And... if the recognition field is
blank, is there a formula set up to revert to the the name1 field?
Thanks-

Subject: [support] Re: Donation
Dilemma
I have a custom field called "recognition listing" in
which I enter the name as it is to be listed for publication (I always ask the
donor to tell me on the response device how this should be done).
Wouldn't something like this take care of your problem?

I have close to 700 members that I track, some are couples
who have separate (individual) membership records and pay separate dues. The
dilemma comes when the couple donates together. Presently, the donation is
attributed to one of the records( i.e.: his) with a notation on the other
record ( i.e.: hers) that the couple's donor info can be found at the
spouses record (his). I can't split the donation, obviously, and when
printing donor lists, somebody's spouse always inadvertently gets left off
in spite of manually proofing the list. This is where (I think)
householding could be a valuable tool, but it appears to only function for
address/mailing labels. Am I correct in this assumption? Is there a way to
household their donation info as well, for say, donor lists or
reports? One solution I've thought of is
to create another record for the couple solely for donation information.
But, I can't foresee what, if any, problems this may cause- especially if no
membership info is stored there. I'm curious as to how other e-base users
address this? Additionally, a related problem
is when individual members ( i.e.: John Smith) will donate with their spouse
and want both names (John and Jane Smith) listed on all acknowledgements,
lists etc. How to I do this without altering the original membership record?
Is it possible to create an alternative salutation line that could include
both names and that could be toggled on and off ( with a radio switch) as
needed? Thanks for any
suggestions! Michele
