You are correct that Last Year $ references the post date. How else could it work, since ebase doesn't come with a field to hold the deposit date?
To do what you want, you'd have to either enter the deposit date in the Post Date field, or create a new field for Deposit Date in the Payments file and then change the match fields for the Payments Last Year relationship so that they draw from the new Deposit date field, not the Post Date field (this would involve a relatively simple change to the Fiscal Year field in the payments file, but I'm not clear yet on what other functions rely on that field and whether or not that change would cause problems. Also, this latter approach would be more difficult if you don't know filemaker well, so I wouldn't recommend it.)
