Recently, Dave Shaw wrote the following regarding "Repeating Fields".
"Repeating fields are one of my least favorite FileMaker features. I'm almost tempted to say, "It's not a feature, it's a bug." I would suggest extracting the data from the repeating fields into standard fields using a replace command. You can address specific repeats using the GetRepition(repeatingfield, repetition) function (at least in FileMaker 5 - not sure how far back that goes). So you can create a new field Repeat1 and populate it from the first repetition, and so forth. Then you make as many passes at importing the data as you have repeats. " ------------------ What is a better way of handling this situation: I have a need to accomodate a single record having multiple values in a single field. For example, an organization XYZ might have multiple entries under "type". It might be a "foundation", a "donor", a "member", etc. I might want to do a search the field "type" for any of those values and be sure that I would find XYZ for any of them. Thanks for the help.
