Sounds to me as if you have designated a network protocol as TCP/IP, so FileMaker is trying to get to your network via the specified method, dialup. Since you are using a dialup connection, I suspect that you are not using ebase on a local network and don't need a network protocol specified. With FileMaker running, select the menu item Edit>Preferences>Application, and the General tab. At the bottom of the dialog box is a popup to select network protocol. It probably shows TCP/IP. Select None.
