I assume you mean names.100?
No, it's not normal to take that long for 1100 recs, nor should a database of 1100 
recs be 100MB in size.  I might try doing a Save As <compressed> before exporting, or 
maybe even try a Recover... (save a backup first).
FMP is slow for import/export, but not that slow.

The contacts.100 file was over 100MB, and has taken over 2 hours (so far) to export, 
with no end in sight.  Is this normal for a database that has about 1100 names, and a
