I haven't used a network installation yet, so I'm going to pass this 
along to someone who has. It does sound to me, though, as if you are 
missing some parts. A network installation involves data files on the 
host, with navigation and interface files on each client. Is it 
possible that some of these got put in the wrong place. There is a 
file in the documentation folder called ebaseentities.pdf that 
explains which pieces should be where.

Finding major donors is a pretty simple process all by itself, 
depending in part on how you have that coded. If you define "major 
donor" as anyone who has given more than some amount total, just 
search for that number.

Adding functions to ebase involves creating an external module. The 
Payments module is provided as an example in the ebase system 
delivered. information on Filemaker scripting is provided in the 
FileMaker user manual.
