We have greatly modified our expire date field without messing up other
calculations (we've changed to a twice yearly dues cycle Spring (Mar 1) and
Fall (Sept 1)).

However, as Walt noted, you should be sure of the consequences of what
you're proposing. Its up to your organization to decide if you care whether
people get a little more or less time in their "year" membership.

And, do not forget to document this and any other changes!
