The problem is that the normal way to get to the query screen, using the button at the top, leaves you in the middle of a script when you get to Query, so you can't jump to layout mode. From the Home screen, go to layout mode, then from the layout list popup above the rolodex upper left, select the layout titled Query Screen 1 [or 2 or 3].
