Just another idea to add to the following message in this discussion thread:

In a couple of installations, I've added a FM V5 database called "server
functions". This database contains nothing but a single layout with
buttons that run the following functions:

1. Start Ebase as "host" (opens all Ebase files and sets them to multi-user)
2. Close Ebase.
3. Backup Ebase (Uses a perl program that creates a WinZip archive
containing Ebase files, which has a name constructed with the date of the
backup. This program also writes record of each backup performed to a
"backup history file", so there is a complete record of all backups that
have been performed.)
4. Replace all fast find fields.

Several of the button provided execute multiple scripts, like "backup
Ebase, start host, replace all finds". Using this database, Ebase can be
backed up, started, all files opened and placed in host mode, and all fast
find fields replaces with a single button click. This eases
multiple-person use of Ebase considerably, ensures that backups are easy to
perform and do not result in multiple "runnable" versions of Ebase (this
often leads to problems in my experience), and is EASY to use.
