I think you should fix this during conversion to 2.0. You should map each accounting code to a source code as part of the import process. There is no point in perpetuating a mistake into a new version.
If you're not ready to convert to 2.0, there are ways you could fix the problem in v1.3. One simple way that doesn't require any advanced FileMaker knowledge is to use Find and Replace. First backup ebase, just in case you make a mistake. Create all the source codes you need. Find all the records for an accounting code. In one of the records, choose the matching Source Code. Then with your cursor still in the source code field where you have selected the correct source code, choose "Replace" from the Records menu. In the pop-up menu select that you want to replace all the found set with the new code. Repeat this for each accounting code (find the set, select the code, then replace for the found set). If you don't have a huge number of different codes, this is an easy low-tech way of making the correction you need. Then when you decide to upgrade to 2.0, you can easily use the conversion tool without having to think about this problem. good luck, Robin Robin Mathias Mathias Consulting http://www.MathiasConsulting.com mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] voice: 707.636.0418 fax: 707.636.0419 485 Horn Ave Santa Rosa, CA 95407 Database and Web solutions for nonprofit organizations, small businesses and healthcare payers. > -----Original Message----- > From: Northeast Community Center [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Friday, July 05, 2002 9:36 AM > To: TechRocks Support > Subject: [support] Accounting codes in 2.0? > > > Hello, > > I am currently using v. 1.3 and foolishly used accounting codes instead of > source codes to track the various sources of donations (to match my > accounting program.)
