We have a new Dell computer, and have been backing up ebase files regularly. I discovered that if you try to open one of these backups in Filemader 5.5, when the home screen opens you get a window, "This fields is not modifiable." By closing the window 14 or 15 times it will go away. Then, into Administrative, Import, Names, Open file to import, repeated clicks on the radio button fail to open the window for choosing a file to import. Attempting to get back to the home screen again by hitting Control 1, 14 or 15 clicks are needed again to close the reappearance of the 'This field is not modifiable" window.
Can this difficulty be resolved by a slower recording speed, a different brand of disk, or is the burner mechanism defective? The same anomalies when attempting to use the backup disk occur no matter on which computer the attempt is made. Thanks for thoughts. Henry Bookout North Fork Environmental Council P. O.
