Are you looking to update the list of zip codes that are used to
auto-fill city, state, area code, county, etc.? If so, check the
archives. Bob Lelievre (sp?) has offered a full zip code file for the
entire US on his website (I don't recall the address but it's in the
archives).

Alternatively, there's a simple routine to populate the zip code file
that is used to auto-input that data, again from the archives:

>1) Find all in the Names file

This, obviously, finds all records. If you have records in your database
that may not have zip codes, you might omit those that are blank. The
Filemaker and ebase manuals have good sections on finds that are worth
committing to memory.

>2) sort by zipcode

Mode -> Sort -> Select Zip\Postal Code and "Move"
Choose "Sort"

>3) export zipcode, city st, county area code

File -> Import/Export -> Export Records
Enter the name of the file to be saved to a tab-delimited file.
Something
like "zipxfer".
Now you will be asked which fields should be exported. You might choose
the
following:

Zip\Postal Code
Home Phone AC
City
State\Province
County
Country

Select "Summarize by" and highlight Zip\Postal Code. This ensures that
if
you have multiple records corresponding to "80202 Denver Colorado", for
example, that only one will be exported.

>5) Then import the file into the zip_100 file

Minimize the names file and maximize the zip_.10x file.
Choose File -> Import/Export -> Import Records
Browse to find your "zipxfer.tab" file and select it.
In the resulting dialog box, match the fields that you're importing with
their counterparts in the zip_.10x file. To do this, clear arrows, align
fields as appropriate, then reset the arrows (no arrows, no import). Use
the
scan buttons to make sure that the correct values are where they should
be.
Hit "Import".

And there you go. Return to the names_.10x file and change your tab
order to
hit the zip code field before the city or state (this should already
happen, so only modify it if it doesn't). For a new record, on entering
a zip code that exists in the new zip_.10x file, your city/state/ac
info should be completed for you.

If you're looking for something else, please clarify your question.
