Okay,

I finally had time to re-install ewerything...
I did:

fresh install of 0.89.2
fresh re-configure ewerything (no backup-load)
update_file.sh /etc/inc/dyndns.class
Update the file in /usr/sbin from Bill's instructions
update_file.sh /etc/crontab && shutdown -r now
reboot of the system

I'm now using PPPoE and dyndns cilent...

wait and see...
