If the clock isn't an issue, from what I've experienced, having the sounds play substantially longer with CF is normal. all my embedded hardware drags the sound out much, much longer than my hard drive installs. I believe there was a post here not too long ago that said that's normal because of something to do with how it reads the thing off the card/drive, it will play longer with slow I/O devices.
