enable ssh at system>advanced and logon with an ssh client with "root" and <webguipassword>. I have already upgraded several embeddeds by running the shellscript without uploading any files manually.

You need to do that in alphabetical order (a,b,c,..) as these are incremental updates (don't worrys, it will check for the installed version; you can't destroy anything).
